Beyond the Smiles with Brigitte Muir - an Australian Himalayan Foundation fundraising trek


Brigitte Muir, Australia's first woman to climb Mt Everest, is leading a trek in Octoober 2011 into the lesser known villages of the Solu Khumbu region of Nepal, and raising funds for the AHF's pilot Women's Literacy Program in Lura.  In this remote part of the Everest region (away from the tourist trails), adult illiteracy rates are unacceptably high, and Brigitte and the AHF are working to reverse this trend.  All funds raised will be directed to this very worthy project which we propose to expand into other regions in the near future.

Each trekker has pledged a minimum of $300 to support this project which will have a profound impact on the lives of women in the Solu Khumbu.  To find out more about the Australian Himalayan Foundation and its work in Nepal, India and Bhutan, please click here.
